The woman that I am

Living in a shadow
that I cannot fill.
A battle of soul.
A battle of will.

Unable to live,
because others have died.
All alone in this war;
No one on my side.

Among the anger and guilt
lies a deep burning need.
The need to be loved
for just being me.

Requesting the right
to decide for myself,
whether or not
to shoot my life to Hell.

Everyday I search
for a way to get by.
I don’t measure up,
no matter how hard I try.

I’m not infallible,
but I do the best I can.
Don’t hold the past of others against me-
Trust me for the woman that I am.
